What is Test and Tag?

Electrical test and tag is the routine inspection and testing of your portable electrical equipment to make sure it is safe to use. It covers everything with a plug, from power leads and battery chargers to three-phase workshop machinery.

In Western Australia it is how businesses meet their electrical safety duties under work health and safety regulations. Every item is visually inspected, electrically tested, and tagged with the result and next test date.

We test to AS/NZS 3760, the Australian Standard for in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment. Done properly, it is the difference between a tag on the cord and a genuine safety check.

Start Test and Tagging

What we test and tag

  • Power leads and extension leads
  • Power tools and battery chargers
  • Portable RCDs and safety switches
  • Single-phase appliances and office equipment
  • Three-phase leads, machinery and welders
  • Workshop, kitchen and site equipment

Plenty of operators quietly skip three-phase gear or turn it away. We carry over twenty three-phase adapters and test the lot, single and three-phase, in the one visit.

Why choose us

FAQs

Common questions about electrical test & tag

Under WA work health and safety regulations, businesses have a duty to ensure their electrical equipment is safe through regular testing. For many workplaces, regular test and tag to AS/NZS 3760 is how that duty is met, and some sites and insurers require it.
